Boise, Idaho, is the unofficial “surrogacy capital” of the United States. As we follow the four surrogates through their pregnancies, the film investigates how and why this all-American city is attracting people from all over the world to start their families in Boise.

Filmmaker’s Biography

Beth Aala is a three-time Emmy award-winning producer and recipient of a Peabody Award for her documentary work at HBO. Beth co-directed and produced feature documentary, RANGER, FARMER, FISHERMAN for Discovery, which premiered at Sundance in 2017. She also directed & produced, SUPERMENSCH: THE LEGEND OF SHEP GORDON (A&E IndieFilms) with comedian Mike Myers. It won the Hollywood Film Award for Best Documentary and was nominated for the 2015 News & Documentary Emmy Awards.

Prior to her her documentary work, Beth worked as an independent producer on a multitude of MTV shows including "Total Request Live" and the annual "Video Music Awards," working with big musical acts such as U2, Jay Z, Beyonce, Trent Reznor, Alicia Keys, Outkast, Dave Grohl, Missy Elliott and Justin Timberlake. She also directed and produced one of the premiere episodes of the hit news and doc series, MADE.
